I'd only read one other Luanne Rice title before picking up "Summer Light", and although I enjoyed it (Firefly Beach), Summer Light has it beaten, hands down . It's truly been a while since I got up early to continue reading a book, but I did it for this one. This book was fantastic. It had everything. May Taylor is a quiet, reserved woman, making the best out of a life that has left her dissappointed too many times. To top it all off, her daughter Kylie is 'gifted' with the ability to talk to, and see, angels. It is through Kylie's frequent trips to various doctors and specialists that May meet hockey legend Martin Cartier. One of Kylie's 'angels' tells her that Martin needs their help, and they need him. After a chance meeting and a freak accident, May and Martin find themselves so deeply in love it seems that nothing can tear them apart. As always happens in the books we love the most, reality is a nasty presense in the lives of our fictional heros, and May, Martin and Kylie must all face their own demons. Struggling to build their family and protect their future, the Cartier's must make their peace with the past.
By the last three chapter of 'Summer Light' I was constantly dabbing at the tears. I was totally touched by Ms. Rice's story, and found little Natalie to be as real as any other character in the book. This is a book I will HAVE to lend to friends, because I know how much they will enjoy it. And I know that I'll be keeping "Summer Light" handy enough to read again soon. Great characters, great story, great romance, great, great ending. Need I say more =:)

Summer Light (Audible Audio Edition) Luanne Rice Laural Merlington Brilliance Audio Books Reviews
This book was an enjoyable read. Classic tale of two people falling in love and healing past hurts. What made this interesting for me was the supernatural aspects of the child being able to talk to angels and how Martin coped with losing his sight. That was what made the story from merely a lovely read to an enjoyable one.
Definitely a great hammock book! I was laying in my hammock reading this one.
SUMMER LIGHT WAS A WONDERFUL BOOK. LUANNE HAS BECOME ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES. EACH BOOK IS SUCH A WONDER, CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE WITH PEOPLE SHE WRITES ABOUT. HAS ALSO HELPED ME IN MY PERSONAL LIFE. CAN'T WAIT FOR ANOTHER. I HAVE ALL HER BOOKS AND I AM SAVING THEM FOR MY DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW. THANK YOU LUANNE RICE!!!!
I love this book!! It is in my top ten favorites!! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down! Hockey fans will definitely love it! There aren't many books out there about hockey or even hockey players so when I found this one I knew I had to try it. I definitely wasn't disappointed. Would love to read it again, but sadly don't have the time.
I enjoyed reading the book. Some of it was predictable but I liked the way the author kept you wondering about what was going on with a couple of the characters in the book.
I loved it and I love all of Luanne Rice's books...she is wonderful and you will really enjoy reading this book
Few writers make their characters as real and their stories as touching as Rice.
Her books almost always move me. Mary's love Martin is a difficult man with a lot of anger and a lot to learn to forgive.
The story line is predictable and bland. It was okay for a light read, but even the descriptive paragraphs about the settings weren't all that impressive. It passed the time, but it didn't really add anything to my life. This is the first Luanne Rice book I've read. I hesitate to read another, but I may just to see if another one is any better. Some of my friends like her books, which is why I tried this one. If the next one I try is pretty much the same, I won't spend any more valuable reading time on any more of her novels.
